Neighbourhood Plan Referendum

Neighbourhood Plan Referendum Day

Thursday 16th November 2017

Current Position

The Weston & Basford Neighbourhood Plan has now reached Referendum stage.

In the recent Haddon appeal, which was dismissed, the Secretary of State gave significant weight to the emerging Neighbourhood plan.

If more than 50% of the people voting in the referendum support the Plan it will be formally adopted.

Status and Content of the Plan

If adopted the Plan will form part of the statutory planning process and will support and strengthen the newly approved Local Plan for Cheshire East to control and prevent unchecked development within the Parish.

The Plan sets out a series of policies which will be used by Cheshire East to assist in determining planning applications for all development proposals within the parish.

Residents of the Parish have had a major input into these policies which were developed from a series of questionnaires and workshop sessions during 2015 and 2016.

The contents of the Neighbourhood Plan can be viewed on the Cheshire East Web Site:
